SoraNews24
SoraNews24 is a news platform located in Tokyo. It all began in 2008 when our sister site, RocketNews24, launched its first article in Japanese. Two years later, we introduced an English version that initially focused on translating content from our Japanese team. As time went on, we began creating more original English-language articles while continuing to highlight the fun, quirky, and fascinating stories from Asia, especially Japan. To celebrate the eighth anniversary of our English site, we decided to give it a new name: SoraNews24. The word "Sora" means "sky" in Japanese, symbolizing our dedication to sharing both contemporary and traditional cultural stories from Japan and Asia with audiences around the globe, no matter where they are under the sky.

Egura was born at Sumida Maternity Hospital in Tokyo’s Sumida Ward in 1948.

Our ace reporter Mr. Sato is a hard-working guy, but on a recent business trip to Osaka, he found himself feeling a little worn out after a day spent chasing after story leads. A very unique, very pricy snack from Japan’s classiest town. Kyoto is Japan’s classiest city. The buildings are classy, the way of speaking is classy, the trains are classy…and are even the nuts classy? That’s what we were wondering while looking through the wares of Kyoto’s Shimogamo Saryo. Shimogmo Saryo is a ryotei, the term used to describe ultra-fancy restaurants with exclusive clienteles and menus carefully crafted by a master chef.

Once the hottest ice cream chain in the country, Cold Stone is now just one step away from completely disappearing from Japan. When Cold Stone arrived in Japan in 2005, it was a near-instant hit, with long lines of customers at just about every branch excitedly listening to the singing staff as they waited for their order. But the American ice cream chain’s popularity has ebbed and flowed in the years since, and it’s about to vanish from Tokyo entirely.
