A weapon obsessed former prison guard who armed himself with “a rapist’s toolkit” before attacking a prostitute at gunpoint has died in jail. Police found Richard Scaife carrying an imitation handgun, bayonet, pierced condom, expired HMP identification badge and Gaffa tape, after he repeatedly raped her in a Folkestone flat in 2021. The then-46-year-old vehemently denied his actions, but he was unanimously convicted on two counts of rape following a trial at Canterbury Crown Court in 2022.
