On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (“FTC”) voted 3-2, on party lines, to finalize its rule prohibiting businesses from entering into or enforcing non-compete clauses in nearly all agreements with workers. This comes over a year after the FTC announced the proposed rule and published its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (“NPRM”), but despite the delay and extensive public comments, the final version remains a sweeping ban on non-competes with few differences from the proposed rule.

The Worthington Gateway project, southwest of the intersection of North High Street and West Wilson Bridge Road, is inching toward completion. Progress continues on the fifth and final — and largest — building, which is set back from both streets. Dan Varga dreamed of starting a butcher shop one day. When the Hungarian Butcher opened in Linworth in late 2021, it literally was a dream come true for the Clintonville resident. On Memorial Day weekend, that dream turned into a nightmare. During the morning of Friday, May 26, Varga headed to the shop at 2177 W. Dublin-Granville Road to prepare for the day and a busy holiday. He could not have prepared for what awaited him.
