Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed at the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, V.A., hosted by William & Mary over the weekend, picking up both team titles in the process. The Bison men scored 139.5 points, propelling them over Shippensburg and hosts William & Mary, while the women scored 149 points, ahead of second place Virginia’s 124.

PHOENIX — In the moments leading up to the start of the seventh inning, Arizona State senior right-handed pitcher Jack Martinez stepped onto the mound inside Phoenix Municipal Stadium looking to put his last frame of work behind him. He’d just given up three runs on three hits that ballooned Arizona’s lead from 2-0 to 5-0, and with an ASU offense that seemed lifeless for most of the night, a five-run deficit appeared a tall mountain to climb.

Instead, after just one batter, the maroon and gold ball club was down once again. Senior right-handed starter Jack Martinez started strong against the senior second baseman Garen Caulfield, the Wildcats’ leadoff batter, getting ahead 0-2, but the good start didn’t last.
