When a small leak broke out behind Paul Bozonie's suburban home on Friday morning, he thought it almost amusing. As that trickle turned into a torrent, blasting thousands of litres of water through windows and destroying much of his Sydney property, the humour quickly faded. "We got up this morning to light running water down there, it was a small leak … they came and fixed it, and then all of a sudden, it blew again, and then it just started spurting out water everywhere," he said.

The number of affordable homes on sale for the average person living in Sydney is steadily decreasing. A total of 357 properties sold below $556,000 in Sydney in the past month, which is what a person earning an average income can afford. Seventy per cent of those homes were in Western Sydney, and another 15 per cent were in south-west Sydney.

Three thousand kilometres in distance isn't enough to separate the WA Sydney Swans Supporters Club from the team they love. The small but dedicated Perth-based group have been awarded the title of Supporter Group of the Year from the AFL Fans Association (AFLA). "It is quite surreal," the club's president Daz Sommerville said. "People think we're very fanatical, which to some extent, I suppose we are."The group was celebrated for its sense of community and inclusivity.

Michael Guider, the man convicted over the death of nine-year-old Bondi girl Samantha Knight, has died aged 73. Corrective Services NSW confirmed Guider had died about 7:25am on Saturday morning. "A 73-year-old inmate has died at Prince of Wales hospital," a spokeswoman said in a statement.
