Tens of thousands of tradies might have been issued contractor licences without a criminal history check being conducted by Building Commission NSW. It means contractors such as plumbers, electricians and carpenters who failed to disclose their criminal convictions to the regulator may have been granted licences allowing them to attend private homes and businesses. Building Commission NSW, which issues 100,000 contractor licences a year, can refuse applicants who have a criminal record.

They argue the initial decision about granting bail for police officers who are charged should be made independently from police. Forty-two NSW Police officers have been charged with domestic violence offences from January 1, 2023 to March this year.

A Queensland man has been arrested for allegedly helping to smuggle a key suspect in the Sydney caravan attack hoax out of the country. Sources have told the ABC Sayet Erhan Akca, who is believed to be on the run overseas, is a high-level suspect for the joint counterterrorism task force investigating the January terror plot involving an explosives-laden caravan found in Dural and a spate of other antisemitic attacks across Sydney.
