Silva found 30 Minute Hit, a Dartmouth, N.S., gym that focuses on full-body workouts for women. “We have all skill levels and you go at your own pace,” said Michelle Ruggles with the gym.

The luck of the Irish was with The Saints this weekend, as the U15 hockey team made it to the gold medal game of the SEDMHA International Minor Hockey Tournament. Expectations were low for Irish team at the start of the tournament, as they were unable to secure a win last year during their first SEDMHA experience. “To make it this far this year and to make it to the gold medal game is absolutely amazing. It’s more than we could have ever dreamed.

Linda Cary is leading the charge to keep seniors healthy – physically and mentally – in the Halifax area. “I am a passionate about seniors staying strong, powerful and fit,” she said. “We have to stay strong so we can be here, so we can guide others.”Cary is an instructor at fitness programs for seniors at Faith City Church on Summit Street. She first got into fitness after her husband passed away. “I tried to eat my way to happiness, gained 40 pounds, decided I had to do something,” she said.

The Chickenburger first opened its doors in 1940 in Bedford, N.S., and people have been loyally coming in ever since. The drive-in restaurant recently celebrated its 85th anniversary, welcoming customers new and old to mark the major milestone. “From my understanding this is the oldest drive-thru that’s still open in Canada,” said Matt Street, director of operations. One of the restaurant’s signature items is the chickenburger, which has not changed much in nearly a century.
