Sean RyanTributes continue to be paid to the woman who was killed in a road crash in Frenchpark on Thursday evening May1st. Kitty Lavin (89) Mullen, Frenchpark, Roscommon, was a pedestrian who died after being struck by a truck in the west Roscommon village. It happened at the junction of the N5 and the R361 in Frenchpark at around 4.45pm which was close to her home. Locals saidKitty, who was a widow, was originally from Strokestown but had moved to Frenchpark after she got married.

Michael O’Brien (92) appeared on RTÉ’s Questions and Answers programme on May 25, 2009, and outlined in detail his experiences of being abused as a child in St Joseph’s Industrial School in Clonmel, Co Tipperary. Mr O’Brien was addressing then-minister Noel Dempsey, following the publication of the Ryan report into clerical abuse. Mr O’Brien, a former local councillor, also served as a Fianna Fáil Lord Mayor of Clonmel in 1993.

A grieving family have thanked gardaí and emergency services after their son was killed in Youghal in Co Cork in the early hours of Monday morning. Daniel (Dan) O’Sullivan, who was originally from Mallow but had been living in Youghal for the past two years, died after being stabbed when a row broke out between two men in a pub in the east Cork town at about 9.50pm on April 14th. In a post on Rip.ie, Mr O'Sullivan's family thanked the paramedics and emergency services which came to his aid.

Sean Ryan and Vivienne ClarkeTributes have been paid to a teenager who died following a single-vehicle tractor collision in Co Leitrim. The victim has been named as Dessie O’Kelly (18), an agricultural student from Drumluna, Leitrim. He was travelling as a passenger in the tractor that was involved in the collision at about 3.10pm on Tuesday. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident on the R204 at Aghavilla, Carrigallen to come forward. Mr O’Kelly was pronounced dead at the scene.
