Claudia Sheinbaum, a climate scientist and former mayor of Mexico City, became the first woman to be elected president of Mexico, winning Sunday's vote in a landslide. Sheinbaum, 61, received nearly 58 percent of the vote, according to preliminary results from the Mexican electoral office. In another precedent, Sheinbaum is also the first Jewish person to lead one of the world’s largest predominantly Catholic countries.

The Hungarian prime minister backed Trump on Friday morning after the former U.S. president was found guilty on 34 counts in a criminal trial held in New York City. Trump became the first U.S. ex-president to be convicted of a crime when a jury found him guilty of falsifying documents to cover up a hush money payment to a porn star ahead of the 2016 election.

Ukraine and Belgium have signed a security agreement which includes the delivery of 30 U.S.-made F-16 fighter jets, in a move to bolster Kyiv's defense capabilities against Russian President Vladimir Putin's ongoing invasion. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo agreed on a plan that “includes at least €977 million in Belgian military aid to Ukraine this year,” the Ukranian president announced Tuesday, during a visit to Belgium.

EU officials have condemned an Israeli air attack on refugee tents in Rafah that killed at least 45 Palestinians, including many children. Sunday’s strikes — which took place in a camp where displaced Palestinians had been sheltering — come days after the U.N.’s top court ordered Israel to halt its operations in the city of Rafah in Gaza, citing the “immediate risk” to Palestinians. Over half of those killed were women, children and elderly people, local health officials said.
