Christopher Jeffrey-Racine’s new role has been revealed. The former BDM at Playa Hotels & Resorts has been hired by MSC’s luxury lifestyle brand Explora Journeys, PAX has learned. Starting Monday (March 24), Jeffrey-Racine assumes the role of “business relationship expert,” covering Quebec, the Atlantic provinces and the Ottawa regions. The travel professional is amused by the somewhat bombastic title attached to his new role.

Gail Lea has left the building, but not the travel industry. In a statement to PAX, Lea confirmed that she has left her role as business development manager for Canada at Barcelo Hotel Group. Lea joined the hotelier nearly 10 months ago, in February, becoming a point person for travel advisors and agencies. She succeeded Judy Makara, who moved over to Sandos.

It was quite a party Wednesday night (October 30) at the Studio-Cabaret de l'Espace St-Denis in Montreal, where the AAVQ (the Association of Quebec Travel Agents) brought together some 350 members of the travel industry to celebrate the 10th edition of its Uni-Vers Trophies Gala. As soon as they arrived on the red carpet, well-dressed guests flashed big smiles for PAX’s camera (Pax Nouvelles was one of the night’s sponsors).

Air Canada Vacations’ (ACV’s) Dream Makers winter product tour landed in Montreal on Thursday night (Sept. 19), welcoming more than 800 travel advisors to interact with almost 80 suppliers and, of course, members of the ACV team. The tour, which previously stopped in Vancouver, Edmonton and Halifax, will conclude on September 26 in Toronto, where a thousand advisors are expected.
