Fragrantica user reviews of the new Lost In Paris by Roja Dove, released in 2024, range from "Superb. The gourmand of all gourmands." and "An olfactory masterpiece" to "smells like a Yankee Candle shop. Hard pass, do not recommend." and "Vomitous, hyper-sweet nightmare." I'm sure both sides are exaggerating, but the contrast in opinions is striking - what is it that's so polarising? A particular kind of sweetness? A high price?

When it comes to strong men, what kind of men do you think of? Powerful athletic men or lean, sinewy men? What kind of winners do you think of: heavyweight boxers or marathon runners? The scent Endurance by the Spanish brand Botanicae seems like a typical survivalist to me, so thin, short, sinewy, and exceptionally resilient.

Today, in our vintage section, there is a masculine cologne that is virtually unknown in my country, and extremely expensive in the US, Britain, and Europe. I'm talking about Sienna by Crabtree & Evelyn, released in 1991 and discontinued in 2013-14, before the company went bankrupt. A classic example of a fragrance that few people need while it's on the shelves (I'll buy it later, it's not gonna go anywhere!) and suddenly everyone wants it (probably to sell only?) after the project is over.
