FDC susceptibility testing is challenging as none of the commercial tests have been proven to accurately determine the susceptibility in the area of technical uncertainty (ATU). Here, we evaluated the performance of different FDC testing methods on Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates around this range. A challenging collection of 104 K. pneumoniae isolates with different FDC susceptibility was designed, including high representation (70%) of the 2024-ATU (21–23 mm) ± 1 mm.

In recent years, we have witnessed an unprecedented increase in the incidence of vibriosis due to global warming. Vibrio metoecus is a recently described V. cholerae-like species that has not been associated with septicemia death in humans. During follow-up of human vibriosis, we received a blood isolate from a patient with secondary septicemia who died a few hours after admission.

The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of effective vaccination strategies in controlling the spread of infectious diseases. SARS-CoV-2 vaccine has demonstrated high efficacy in preventing COVID-19 infection in the general population. However, the efficacy of this vaccine in patients with predominantly antibody deficiencies, such as common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), should be closely monitored.
