HOUSTON (KIAH) — Harris County Attorney Christian Menefee announced Wednesday that his office is suing the Trump Administration’s Department of Health and Human Services and its secretary, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.The lawsuit filed electronically in the Court for the U.S. District of Columbia on Tuesday seeks to free up $10 million in refugee resettlement funds that Menefee says President Donald Trump froze in January despite Congress approving them in October.

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Over his 14-year Major League Baseball career, Octavio Dotel played for 13 different teams. Five of those seasons were with the Houston Astros, the longest of his tenures with any team. After getting word of his death in a nightclub collapse early Tuesday morning that also killed at least 97 other people, the Astros took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their grief.

HOUSTON (KIAH) Nine-time Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis was among more than a hundred people who honored a longtime University of Houston track and field coach. Tom Tellez was the Cougars’ head track coach from 1976 to 1998 including Lewis’ years on the team. At an event on campus Friday night, a bust of Tellez was unveiled right next to the school’s outdoor track and field stadium. “We are here for who I think is the greatest coach of the 20th century,” Lewis said.
