KIAH-TV is a CW affiliate that has been a part of Houston's broadcasting landscape for over 55 years! The station first went on the air as an independent channel (Ch 39) on January 6, 1967, using the call letters KHTV and gained recognition for airing Houston Wrestling with Paul Boesch. In September 1999, KHTV became a charter affiliate of the WB Network, changing its call letters to KHWB. The station launched “WB39 News at 9” in the fall of 2000. Following the end of the WB Network and the formation of the CW in 2006, the station switched its affiliation and its call letters were updated to KIAH. Throughout its 55+ years, KIAH has aired games from the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, and Houston Texans, and has hosted various newscasts. The station previously produced a morning program called “Morning Dose,” which concluded in late August 2020. As of August 21, 2020, CW39 introduced CW39 NO WAIT WEATHER + TRAFFIC, a locally produced 4-hour show focused on traffic and weather updates, along with headlines. It also features popular syndicated shows like black-ish, The Goldbergs, Two and a Half Men, and Maury. The station's noon slot includes "Relative Justice," hosted by Houston native Rhonda Wills.
