The daughter of N Ramachandran, who is among the 26 victims of the Pahalgam terror attack, has said that as she lay numb, holding on to her father’s body, it was a panicked call from her children that made her move away from the terrorists. Ramachandran’s body was flown to Kochi on Wednesday night and will be cremated on Friday. He, along with wife Sheela, daughter Arathi and two grandchildren, had reached Kashmir on Monday for a short vacation.

One of the tourists killed in the terror attack in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam on Tuesday was identified as Kochi resident Ramachandran. The 65-year-old had gone to Kashmir with his wife Sheela, daughter Arathi and her two children. “Ramachandran was shot while he was riding a horse. All others in the family are safe. Later, Arathi identified the body of her father at a local hospital,” said Jayalakshmi, a neighbour of the family in the Edappally area of Kochi.

Two months after the Kerala High Court ordered a CBI probe into the mysterious death of a 28-year-old man, his parents were found murdered in Kottayam district on Tuesday. A migrant worker has been taken into custody in connection with the incident. T K Vijayakumar, 64, a native of Thiruvathukkal in Kottayam and his wife Meera, 60, were found murdered at their house, police said. Their bodies were found by their domestic help when she turned up for work on Tuesday morning.
