This week, Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham is the WNBA's second-most popular player behind Caitlin Clark. She is being adorned by the millions because many fans felt she came to the defense of Clark earlier this week in a game against the Connecticut Sun. LeBron James has often created controversy with comments off the basketball court. The latest was his appearance on the Mind The Game podcast with Hall of Famer Steve Nash. James tackled the issue of "ring culture" in the NBA. While James has four championships, he said it's unfair to base players' legacy on titles. Chris Webber was one of the most feared power forwards during his NBA playing days. He was among the first at his position to evolve into a mid-range shooter, paving the way for the likes of Kevin Durant and Bam Adebayo. He was the 1994 Rookie of the Year, a five-time All-Star and first-team All-NBA in 2001. It added up to an induction into the Hall of Fame. The only blemish on his career was a championship.

Tracy McGrady was arguably the best NBA player in the early 2000s. At the time, he played with the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets. He made one of the All-NBA teams and was an All-Star from 2001-05. The only knock was postseason success. As a primary player, he never advanced past the first round. His legacy took a hit despite being elected to the Hall of Fame. He spoke about it recently in wake of LeBron James' comments about ring culture in the NBA.
