Any time I feel misunderstood, I simply have to go online shopping. People might not know the real me, but there's no hiding from algorithms. They've got me completely figured out — or so I thought. You can always count on certain annual events to cause an uproar on the good ol' internet. Obviously, there's an inordinate amount of people whose sole hobby appears to be arguing politics online with strangers. Last night, there was a dude livestreaming next to a sign that simply said, "DEFEND TRUMP." If anyone took the bait, he'd just argue politics with them for entertainment.

So, how's your new year going so far? We're only a few weeks in, and I've already marked up a good chunk of my 2025 bingo card. Let's see, we've had massive political upheaval, map re-naming, federal agencies shut down, air disasters, wildfires and a phony missing persons case. It's been a bit of a wild ride thus far. I am, however, convinced things are about to change. I'm banking on my February to be positively couched in personal growth and comfort.

Okay, I'm officially starting to worry about this whole AI thing. I just watched a video that's equal parts fascinating and horrifying. A YouTube content creator filmed an experiment that showcases everything I find off-putting about artificial intelligence. He took one cell phone running an AI chatbot named Laura and put it in conversational proximity with another cell phone running an AI chatbot named William. And he asked them to go on a date.

I do some of my best thinking at 2 a.m. I don't wanna brag about this one, but I may have just solved one of our area's biggest problems. You can thank me later. Winter in our neck of the woods is just plain gross. I have zero tolerance for the months of January and February. I hate walking outside to icy steps, bone-chilling cold, and disgusting snow. Shivering in my car waiting as it warms up is one of my least favorite pastimes.

I spent a good chunk of my life as a snob. Not in the traditional sense, I guess. Not once did I ever think I was better than anyone else. In fact, I've always held a rather deep assertion that most of you are, in fact, way better than me. But I spent a good chunk of my life trying (and mostly failing) to be a card-carrying member of the counter-culture, finding safe harbor in the fringes of society, never succumbing to the mainstream mindset. I wanted to be above all that.
