All good things must come to an end, and this is the case for Louisiana softball’s 2025 season. After a walk-off victory over Appalachian State in the Sun Belt Conference Championship Tournament quarterfinals, the Ragin’ Cajuns (29-25, 14-11) faced Coastal Carolina in the semifinals. In what felt like a fourth inning that would not end for the Cajuns, the Chanticleers put up run after run — building a lead too large for a comeback.

When Louisiana baseball’s Luke Yuhasz steps onto M.L. Tigue Moore Field, there is no more Luke, only Big Donkey. Yuhasz’s nickname has been the Donk since his first fall practice at the Tigue as a freshman. “We're doing live at-bats, I think and I hit like a home run and Coach (Matt) Deggs just started calling me ‘big donkey,’ and ever since then it’s stuck,” said Yuhasz, a junior. “It fits me perfectly.

For Louisiana baseball fans, this is beat Southern Mississippi week as their Ragin’ Cajuns hit the road again to face the No. 22-ranked Golden Eagles. The two squads will reignite their rivalry this weekend for a three-game Sun Belt Conference series, the last of two remaining. For the Cajuns (25-24,15-9), pulling off an upset is the only thing on their mind as they sit with 15 conference wins so far. “I've been saying for the last few weeks, we need to get 16,” UL coach Matt Deggs said.

The journey to Sulpur for Teurlings Catholic baseball has entered the semifinals round as it hosted Vandebilt Catholic in game one of the LHSAA Select Division II bracket. With the weather Wednesday, the Rebels' home game was moved to M.L. Tigue Moore Field but a new venue wouldn’t mean different results for them. They shut out the Terriers, snatching Game 1 with a 2-0 victory and are now just one game away from making a road trip.
