Local Binga Rural District Council chief executive officer Joshua Muzamba has been accused of abusing the local authority’s resources after a deadly landmine incident at his private property. Three people died on January 8 when a council vehicle with six people was blown up by a landmine near Muzamba’s Sebungwe Narrows conservancy in Simatelele. A 14-year-old girl died on the spot and two men were confirmed dead on their way to the Binga District Hospital.

The local construction industry is pursuing efforts to deepen regional integration to facilitate the flow of investment, trade, capital and ideas, among other things. Zimbabwe Building Contractors Association (ZBCA) president Tinashe Manzungu said his organisation was exploring how regional cooperation could bolster infrastructure development. He was speaking at a ZBCA-organised regional summit in Victoria Falls.

KOYO Kouoh, one of Africa’s most high-profile curators, has been picked to organise the 2026 edition of the Venice Biennale’s, the world’s biggest recurring art exhibition. She will now become the second African-born curator ever to organise the biennale, and the first to do so since Okwui Enwezor, who made history when he curated the 2015 edition.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has on three occasions stated that he will step down when his term of office ends in 2028, but debate on this subject has refused to die down because some Zanu PF faction leaders insist that he must hang on to power. The Zanu PF annual conference that was held in Bulawayo in October passed a resolution that said the constitution must be amended to remove the presidential term limits to allow Mnangagwa to serve more than two terms.
