Smoking remains a leading cause of health inequalities and policy needs to reduce this gradient. Australia's current policy is not achieving its objective. Making e-cigarettes harder to access is keeping them from those who need them and feeds into a system which maintains inequalities. There is plenty of evidence in our area that Boards of Education have neglected, if not forsaken, one of their primary responsibilities: oversight. The special education scandal in Frederick County and the sexual harassment scandal in Montgomery County are two recent examples of issues the respective Boards of Education should have been aware of and dealt with before they became scandals.
