A council has defended the management of rough sleepers following backlash on social media over the death of a homeless man. Lincolnshire Police said the man was found dead in Drummond Road, Skegness, shortly after 08:30 GMT on 27 December 2024. His death was not suspicious and the coroner had been informed. Posts on social media had criticised the local authority for not helping him.

A supermarket chain is giving body cameras to staff following a rise in abuse by customers. Lincolnshire Co-op has spent £200,000 issuing the technology at its 99 food shops and 44 pharmacies. Security manager Mark Foulds said there had been "a steady increase" in confrontations, with staff at some stores experiencing "threats and abuse on a daily basis". The government has pledged to bring in a specific offence of assaulting a shop worker, alongside stronger measures to tackle shoplifting.

Owners of campervans and motorhomes will be banned from sleeping in their vehicles overnight while using council-owned car parks in Lincoln. City of Lincoln Council said it had seen a marked increase in overnight stays during the past year. Joshua Wells, the council's portfolio holder for inclusive economic growth, said it was "creating a fire risk" as the vehicles were parked too closely together.

A new line of pylons through Lincolnshire will also mean more solar and wind farms and "the entire industrialisation" of coastal communities, claim campaigners. National Grid wants to build a corridor of pylons between Grimsby to Walpole, over the border in Norfolk. Protest group No Pylons Lincolnshire said residents were not being told of an "almost constant barrage" of green projects that will also be built along the route.

Martin Hill, leader of Lincolnshire County Council, was responding to a speech by the prime minister in which he said the country had to accept "trade-offs", including pylons to carry green energy. Under plans announced during the previous Conservative government, National Grid would build a new line of pylons through a stretch of Lincolnshire.
