    Plans to scrap smaller Lincolnshire councils in favour of new bigger authorities are up in the air as the next stage of the process begins. The government has written to all councils with feedback on their initial proposals, but it’s far from clear which version will emerge as the consensus. It’s expected that two or three unitary councils with populations of around 500,000 will replace Greater Lincolnshire’s ten current councils.

    A Gainsborough takeaway which lost its licence for repeatedly breaking Covid rules, has continued to ignore restrictions, the council claims. Gainsborough Grill has applied for a new late-night licence to replace the one it had revoked. The pizza and hot food takeaway on Trinity Street is currently allowed to open until 11pm, but West Lindsey District Council says it has found evidence that the takeaway has continued to operate after this time.

    Plans for up to 54 homes in a village near Horncastle have been given approval, despite residents saying the site gets waterlogged. The scheme was proposed for open space in the centre of Bardney, backing onto homes on Abbey Road and Wragby Road. West Lindsey District Council’s planning committee said that work would improve rather than worsen flooding problems in the village.

    A Sleaford restaurant has been granted permission to sell alcohol, despite protests from local residents. The Gurkha Square Express’s side entrance opens onto the private alleyway to Parry’s Court, which is mainly occupied by elderly people. A licensing hearing at North Kesteven District Council heard that residents already put up with “urinating, vomiting and misbehaving” in the alley, yards from their homes.
