Renewing your passport is set to rise again by 7 per cent. On 10 April the fee for a standard online application made from within the UK will rise from £88.50 to £94.50 for adults and from £57.50 to £61.50 for children. If you prefer to renew by post the fee rises from £100 to £107 for adults and from £69 to £74 for children. If you opt for the "Premium Service" which will give you a one day turnaround, this will rise from £207.50 to £222 for adults.

Heathrow Airport, one of the world's biggest airports, will be closed today until midnight on March 21st, 2025. This is due to a significant power outage caused by fire at a nearby electrical substation. An estimated 1300 flights will be affected. UK Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has just commented on the Heathrow closure, urging passengers not to travel to the airport. She said:I'm receiving updates on the fast-moving situation at Heathrow Airport.

Ever since BREXIT, the Entry-Exit System (EES) has been in the works to be imposed on non-EU citizens wanting to travel through any Schengen Area frontier. First, it was 2021, then autumn 2024, then April 2025, and now EES has been delayed to October 2025. The difficulty is in the preparedness of all the 30 member countries to be ready at the same time. The plan now is to stagger the rollout in late 2025 to "scan the fingerprints or take a photo of those crossing the border for the first time".
