    HUDSON — The man who jumped from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge on Friday evening was from Greene County, officials said Friday, as police continue the search for him in the Hudson River. “The individual is a male in his late 70s from Greene County,” New York State Police Troop K Public Information Officer Krystal Paolicelli said in an email Tuesday.

    HUDSON — As police search for the man who jumped from the Rip Van Winkle Bridge on Friday evening, more detailed information surrounding the incident has been revealed. Police and fire rescue from Columbia and Greene counties responded to the bridge at about 6:19 p.m. Friday after receiving a report that someone jumped off the Columbia County side of the bridge from one of the outlooks on the span’s walkway. By Monday, state police continued to search for the man.

    GREENPORT — Police arrested a Columbia County man on an animal cruelty charge after an emaciated dog was surrendered to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA in January, officials said.
