Red Raven men's basketball is saying goodbye to another player, with Trent Ruth committing to Division 1 Stonehill University following his freshman season. Ruth was second-team All-KJCCC in his lone season in Coffeyville, and joins a Stonehill program that recently made the jump to D1 and is postseason eligible for the first time. Ruth says it was an opportunity he couldn't turn down.

Following a first-round bye in the Big 12 Tournament championship, the Kansas Jayhawks will take the court tonight looking to advance to the quarterfinals. The No. 6 seed Jayhawks draw the No. 14 seed UCF Golden Knights, with the winner moving on to play No. 3 seed Arizona on Thursday night. KU enters following a win over Arizona on March 8th, and are 20-11 overall on the season.

The Fredonia Yellow Jackets continue to play their best basketball at home this season, racing away from the Cherryvale Chargers in a 76-43 win. Fredonia opened the game shooting the ball well, with seniors Emmit Couch and Elias Barnett leading the scoring charge. Cherryvale would go on a late first half run to cut the deficit to seven, but Fredonia led 43-32 at the break.

The Lady Ravens will travel south to take on the NEO Lady Norsemen tonight in Miami. Coffeyville is looking to complete a perfect 5-0 non-conference schedule, as well as sweep the two meetings with NEO this season. The Lady Ravens defeated the Lady Norsemen 69-53 in the Gilham's Classic earlier this month. NEO has a track record of success in second matchups, making adjustments to defeat opponents in the rematch. Head Coach Tony Turner says NEO has been attacking more down low offensively.

Basketball season has arrived in Coffeyville, with both the men's and women's team's opening their new year tonight. The Lady Ravens open the season at home against Connors State College, a team that qualified for the national tournament a year ago. CCC has plenty of new faces on the roster, with a lot of questions to answer early in the season. Head Coach Tony Turner says the sophomores with experience will need to lead the team tonight.
