Multiple fundraisers have been held to help the family with funeral expenses after the South Caldwell High freshman and Granite Falls resident died from a brain aneurism. The loss of Rangel has circulated on social media where many have offered their condolences.

A South Caldwell High freshman is being remembered by family, friends and athletes following her unexpected death on Sunday. Makayla Rangel was playing soccer at the Hudson recreation center Friday night when she experienced a seizure that sent her to the hospital for treatment, Diana Luna, her sister-in-law wrote on a GoFundMe site. Doctors discovered that Rangel suffered from a ruptured brain aneurysm behind her eyes, which caused her to lose all functions of her body, Luna said.
