Scout Lively Jurek lives up to her namesake. She is a delightfully bright, fearless little girl with big blue eyes and a sweet smile, who loves pink and wants to work with babies when she grows up. However, the 3-year-old has faced many obstacles in her short life. More than 200 fisherman and their families joined in on the fun at the 5th Annual Cole Family Memorial Fishing Tournament, sponsored by Bayside Community Church, during Father’s Day Weekend. This year also attracted more than 20 children who participated in the event, including Laikynn Fikes, 6, who won the largest redfish category with a 28-inch redfish weighing 7.58 pounds.

Grief is a mysterious thing. Just when you think it’s conquered, it flares back up to make its presence known. My mother passed away in January 2016. My family and a few friends had to eventually tackle the tedious task of going through her belongings soon afterward. The job was daunting and not fun. Almost eighty years’ worth of necessities, sentiments and valuable to her junk was sorted through. With not much reason behind who took what and where, my sister ended up with a box of bath towels.
