    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — YSU’s faculty union has announced it’s starting a referendum on Senate Bill 1. The bill makes changes to higher education, including changes to unions and diversity equity and inclusion programs. Gov. Mike DeWine signed SB 1 on March 28. YSU-OEA is collecting signatures to get SB 1 on the ballot for Ohioans to vote on.

    YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) — The McGuffey Centre in Youngstown hosted an awareness day aimed at protecting children called “We Need You to Survive: Youth Safety Workshop” on Saturday. Thea Howell was inspired to create the event after her own daughter was in a dangerous situation. At the event, children heard from speakers about healthy lifestyle habits like nutrition and learned defensive karate maneuvers and how to identify unsafe adults. Howell says she’s hoping to make a difference.
