(WKBN) – Two separate crashes within just a few miles of each other Thursday morning resulted in injuries on Interstate 76 across county lines. The first was a chain reaction crash that happened about 7:30 a.m. between two semis and a box truck just east of the Bailey Road exit in North Jackson. The crash closed I-76 Eastbound for much of the morning. Troopers said the first semi was stopped in traffic when it was rear-ended by the second semi, which was rear-ended by the box truck.

NORTH JACKSON, Ohio (WKBN) – Two separate crashes within just a few miles of each other Thursday morning resulted in injuries on Interstate 76 in Mahoning County. The first crash happened about 7:30 a.m. between two semis and a box truck just east of the Bailey Road exit. A medical helicopter was brought to the scene and at least one person was taken to the hospital. The second crash happened about 10 a.m. between a pickup truck and a semi near Route 534.

CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – Angels for Animals announced Friday it is temporarily suspending dog adoptions and intake. The adoption agency says that’s due to the rise in kennel cough in the facility. According to the American Kennel Club, kennel cough is a highly contagious respiratory disease. It’s caused by bacteria spread from dog to dog through airborne droplets, direct contact and contaminated surfaces.

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – According to an email sent to international students Friday, some international students at Youngstown State University have had their visas revoked. The email, from YSU President Bill Johnson, says the university is “actively engaged with the affected YSU students,” and has reached out to federal agencies and elected officials. The email was forwarded from an anonymous YSU student.

SPRINGFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol says one person was killed and two others were hurt in a car crash Monday evening. It happened around 8 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 170 and Unity Road in Springfield Township. Two cars were involved — a pickup truck and a sedan — according to troopers. The car ended up in a ditch on the side of the road. Multiple emergency vehicles responded to the scene, including a medical helicopter.
