For more than four decades, Mary Furness has been supporting the Mardi Gras parade, admiring the courage of its participants. Since the very first Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras parade in 1978, which ended in violence and arrests, Mary vowed to support it in any way she could — even if it meant watching on TV or from the sidelines. Mary, 80, found it too risky to march publicly back then, but from the crowd in 1988, she felt an instant connection to the Dykes on Bikes.

Instagram says it is testing new features aimed at protecting young people and combating sexual extortion on Meta platforms. One of the new features includes automatically blurring nudity in direct messages (DMs). A new report has found discrimination is endemic in religious schools and organisations around Australia. An investigation by Equality Australia has found LGBTQ+ students are more likely to be discriminated against than supported at independent schools -- while up to 30 per cent of Catholic schools are controlled by authorities with discriminatory practices. The Federal Government is currently considering new religious discrimination laws, but the detail is unclear.
