On 28 November, the ruling Georgian Dream party approved a slightly reshuffled government cabinet, led by incumbent Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, along with its programme titled ‘Towards Europe with Peace, Dignity, and Prosperity’. Around 40 staff members from Georgia’s Public Defender’s Office have signed a letter openly criticising their superior for attending the launch of the new parliament, which was viewed by many as being unconstitutional. On Tuesday, Mariam Moseshvili published the joint letter on Facebook on behalf of herself and 38 colleagues, criticising their boss, Public Defender Levani Ioseliani, for supporting the launch of the new parliament.

On Monday, the ruling Georgian Dream party unilaterally validated the mandates of all 150 MPs, ignoring the explicit dissent of 61 opposition members who were absent, some of them protesting outside the parliament alongside other demonstrators in Tbilisi.

Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has proposed a repeat election, with the government, including herself, operating under holdover authority until the previous election results are nullified and a new parliament is voted in.
