1 Introduction Onychomycosis refers to a superficial fungal infection of the nail unit and represents the majority of onychopathies worldwide. With an estimated global prevalence of 4% across all ages [1, 2], the management of this chronic condition is associated with unique challenges such as misdiagnosis due to lack of confirmatory testing [3], emergence of antifungal resistance [4], and the high risk of recurrence [5].
