Importance Generic health utility instruments lack the discriminative ability to differentiate among health states in patients after head and neck cancer treatment. Objective To develop, validate, and valuate a head and neck cancer−specific health utility measure. Design, Setting, and Participants This psychometric study comprised 2 phases to develop and validate a health utility instrument. The first phase, development and validation, occurred from January 2021 to August 2022.

As a composer, I have channelled emotions into art for as long as I can remember. When death was still only an abstract concept to me, I approached it with tentative curiosity. I allowed myself to feel hurt and heartbreak, even dark emptiness. I wrote, rewrote, and discarded, wondering if there was any beauty within the darkness of death. A month into my clerkship year, my friend passed away suddenly. She was 22 years old.

We read with interest the work by Rodríguez-Cerdeira, Pinto-Almazán and colleagues reviewing the epidemiology and resistance profile of Nakaseomyces glabratus (formerly Candida glabrata) in Europe.1 While current literature does not indicate that N. glabratus exhibits a similar degree of outbreak potential as C. auris,2 increased efforts in surveillance and resistance testing are warranted in view of its multi-drug resistance propensity.

AbstractSome prior studies have found that patients treated by female physicians may experience better outcomes, as well as lower healthcare costs than those treated by male physicians. Physician–patient sex concordance may also contribute to better patient outcomes. However, other studies have not identified a significant difference. There is a paucity of pooled evidence examining the association of physician sex with clinical outcomes.
