'Women in Farming - Empowering Women, Champions of Upland Farming’ is a collection of portraits, interviews and recordings which capture life on family farms in the Forest of Bowland. The exhibition runs from June 7 at Clitheroe Castle Museum. Dedicated to women in farming around the world, it has been curated by Tarja Wilson, from the Forest of Bowland National Landscape Partnership, who has worked with farming communities for more than 30 years.

Families and volunteers got together to raise the amount in aid of the Laurie Solomon Renal Centre in Blackburn. The money was collected and pledged during a community iftar event held during the month of Ramadan, in memory of Mohammed Amin, who died in December last year. Mr Amin was a patient at the centre, and a presentation was led by his family, Farqan and Zeshan Amin, who thanked all those who had contributed to the cause.

AJK Fish and Chips in Johnston Street, Blackburn, is one of 10 chippies shortlisted in the Lancashire Telegraph Best Fish and Chip Shop competition. The chip shop reopened recently following a two-year closure and has been serving some of the best meals in town for 35 years. Owner Mohammed Younus had run the shop with his brother Mohammed Yousaf for many years, but he died of pancreatic cancer in 2023.

On Monday afternoon, a grey Mercedes-Benz sports car flipped over several times after it hit a Toyota, which was turning off Yew Tree Drive/Ramsgreave Drive at the Lammack Road junction. Nearby workers rushed to help the driver of the car, which ended up on its side. Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said at 4.13pm, two fire engines from Hyndburn and Blackburn attended a road traffic collision in Ramsgreave Drive. A spokesperson said: “The incident involved a vehicle on its side.
