    Siân Berry is the MP for Brighton Pavilion and a former co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales. I have received a very large number of emails, letters and postcards about the End of Life Bill from constituents, and I have been really touched by how many people have told me about their own personal experience of loved ones facing really hard choices at the end of their lives.

    It is unacceptable that it has become so wretchedly hard and even impossible to have a safe, affordable and warm place to call home. I’ve rented all my adult life and know too well what it’s like to be at the whims of landlords, deal with failed plumbing, and budget tightly for expected rent rises every year while wages struggle to keep up. My experience has informed my work over many years advocating hard for better housing.

    The former co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales – Sian Berry – has stood down as a councillor in Camden. Berry was first elected to Camden Borough Council in 2014, and has represented the Highgate ward ever since. However, she has long been balancing her responsibilities on the council alongside a litany of other roles. Since 2016, she has been a member of the London Assembly.

    Sian Berry was first elected in 2014 LET me start by being clear: after nearly 10 years I would not be leaving my role as a Camden councillor unless it was necessary to put the time needed into winning Brighton Pavilion and doing justice to the legacy of Caroline Lucas MP. Representing the people of Highgate, and being an independently minded Green voice on this council, has been the most rewarding and instructive job of my whole life.
