The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation made an arrest on Tuesday, June 17, in a child pornography investigation. According to OSBI, a tip was sent in to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and was then sent to the OSBI Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. Heath Corey Spears, age 38, was identified as a suspect by OSBI ICAC special agents.

On Monday, Midwest City police officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 3800 block of N. Oak Grove. According to MCPD, witnesses heard multiple gunshots and a black male adult with a black jacket run west of the apartment complex, The Ridge Apartments. When officers arrived, they located an individual that matched the suspect. The suspect told officers that he did have a weapon but had ditched it. Officers found the weapon and a glass pipe for methamphetamine.

On Tuesday, a U.S. District Judge sentenced a Tulsan resident to 115 months in prison for multiple charges, including assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm. Nicholas Jarrod Weeden, age 43, was sentenced to 115 months for assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to do bodily harm and assault of an intimate partner by strangling and suffocating in Indian Country. In April 2024, Weeden went to an ex-girlfriend's house where an argument was started.

Northeastern State University will host the Muskogee Area Authors Expo on Saturday, June 21, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.The event will host local authors and bring writers from multiple genres, including children's books, poetry, and memoirs.
