    Two men who aided terrorists in the deadly Dusit D2 hotel attack six years ago have been sentenced to 30 years in prison each. Hussein Mohamed Abdille Ali and Mohamed Abdi Ali were handed the sentence by High Court Judge Diana Kavedza, who found them guilty of facilitating the 2019 attack, which left 21 people dead. The court concluded that the duo provided support to the attackers by sending them money and helping them to acquire identification documents.

    Mount Kigali University has appointed Kenyan scholar and literary communicator Prof Egara Kabaji of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology as its new chancellor. Based in Rwanda, Mount Kigali University was formerly a campus of Mount Kenya University (MKU). It gained autonomy in 2023, becoming an independent institution with its own governance and academic framework. On Saturday, the university’s Board of Directors led by chairman Simon Gicharu announced Prof Kabaji’s appointment.

He sold to his victims an imaginary island named Poyais that he claimed to rule. In droves, thousands of investors bought Poyaisian bonds and land certificates from MacGregor. They later travelled thousands of kilometres to the promised land only to realise Poyais was a fabrication.
