May 9 (UPI) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday approved three new natural food color additives, part of Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s push to move away from artificial options. "Today we take a major step to Make America Healthy Again," Kennedy said in a statement issued by HHS. "For too long, our food system has relied on synthetic, petroleum-based dyes that offer no nutritional value and pose unnecessary health risks.

May 9 (UPI) -- President Donald Trump has fired three Democrats sitting on the five-member Consumer Product Safety Commission. Former chair Alex Hoehn-Saric and Commissioners Mary Boyle and Richard Trumka Jr. are now all listed on the agency's website under the past commissioners section. Trumka confirmed the move in an Instagram post.

May 9 (UPI) -- The United States is backing a new plan that will see food and other aid supplied to Gaza privately, officials confirmed on Friday. "President [Donald] Trump has made very clear that one of the most urgent things that needs to happen is humanitarian aid into Gaza," U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said Friday, during a news conference outside the American embassy in Jerusalem.

May 9 (UPI) -- British Airways is ordering 32 new long-haul aircraft from Boeing in a deal worth nearly $13 billion, the airline's parent company, International Airlines Group confirmed Friday. The 32 Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft for Britain's flagship carrier, which is also buying 21 new planes from French manufacturer Airbus.
