April 19 (UPI) -- Thousands of people across more than 700 locations in the United States demonstrated against President Donald Trump on Saturday, protesting his administration's policies during the second "day of action" organized by the 50501 movement. Video on social media showed demonstrations in several U.S. cities Saturday, all taking place in different styles. In Washington, protesters repeatedly shouted "shame!" in front of the White House where Trump is staying this weekend.

April 12 (UPI) -- The number of measles cases in the United States has now surpassed 700, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed in its latest update. The majority of those cases are in Texas, which this week reported 36 new cases since its last update, bringing that state's total to 541 since January. The CDC update this week confirmed a total of 712 cases across 24 states and New York City, which is counted separately from New York State.

April 12 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Defense is now in charge of securing the country's southern border, having been granted new powers to enforce security there by President Donald Trump. Trump's National Security Presidential Memorandum signed earlier in the week allows the military to take control of the Roosevelt Reservation, a 60-foot-wide strip of land running along the southern border.

April 11 (UPI) -- Three people aboard a small propeller plane headed, died in a crash on a major road in Boca Raton, Fla., Friday morning, not far from the city's airport, officials said. One man driving in a car had minor injuries. The Cessna 310, headed for Tallahassee, crashed at 10:13 a.m. after departing from the airport, Boca Raton police said. The crash was just west of Interstate 95 and east of Town Center at Boca Raton.

April 11 (UPI) -- Western allies want a "militarily strong Ukraine," German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said Friday, as his country pledged $12.4 billion in military aid, part of a larger combined $24 billion allied commitment. The new allocation of funds runs until 2029 and includes a $5.8-billion commitment from Britain, which was announced at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in the Belgian capital of Brussels.
