MOUNTAIN VIEW COUNTY – A recent emergency management functional exercise involving a simulated train derailment and the use of an evacuation centre was a success, say officials. The exercise involved the Mountain View Regional Emergency Management Agency, which includes the Town of Olds, Didsbury, Carstairs, Sundre, the Village of Cremona and Mountain View County, as well as RCMP and local fire department members.

SUNDRE – Although the Town of Sundre has previously shown its support for the Mountain View Seniors’ Housing Foundation’s annual Golf Classic by registering a team, the municipality has until recently never before sponsored the event. But while there was unanimous support on council to more formally get behind the tournament fundraiser, there wasn’t quite a consensus on how much to approve for the unbudgeted expense.

SUNDRE – An application to change the residential density on a parcel in the northeast would if approved potentially pave the way for new apartment buildings. Council heard during the regular June 9 meeting that the planning and development department had received an application to amend the land use bylaw map to redesignate five residential lots at 106-114 12th Avenue NE from low density residential to general residential to accommodate four, eight-unit apartment buildings.

SUNDRE – Although there yet remains numerous procedural steps to be taken and discussions to be had prior to any shovels ever going into the ground, a proposed development in Sundre’s northwest is that much closer to becoming a reality. A public hearing for the Mountain Springs area structure plan was held on June 9 with no one registered to participate by telephone and nobody attending in person to express opposition.

SUNDRE – While impaired driving enforcement remains an area of focus for the local RCMP department, instances of fraud targeting seniors have also surfaced as an area of concern. Cpl. Courtney Harding, who for approximately 13 months has been serving as the Sundre detachment’s acting commander, recently presented council with a quarterly report of statistics and activities for the period spanning from January to March.

Hey @elonmusk , did @X basically abandon efforts to curb bots and inauthentic accounts, or simply allow them to proliferate? Every day I have to remove new "followers" like this with shell accounts that have 0 or only 1 post. What gives, and does reporting them even do anything? https://t.co/HFaLMO5Svs
