Keir Starmer has returned from his whirlwind meeting with Donald Trump in Washington DC where the two discussed the hugely consequential matter of a possible Ukrainian peace agreement, a UK-US trade deal and the future of the Chagos Islands. And it seems as though the trip was a partial success for Starmer, with Trump cautiously backing the Chagos plan and suggesting the UK could avoid tariffs, although there was less clarity on security guarantees for Ukraine.

The yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ribosome contains four structural rRNAs and 78 proteins in its core makeup (1–3). These 78 proteins are translated from 59 duplicated gene pairs and 19 unique genes (4) that together total 137 ribosomal protein genes (RPGs). One hundred one of these genes require the removal of an intron by splicing to produce a mature messenger RNA (mRNA) (5).
