    RESIDENTS have raised strong objections to proposals to build more than 50 homes on a green belt site. Northern Trust Land and Breck Homes announced in March the submission of an application to St Helens Council planners seeking approval for a residential development at Fleet Lane, Parr. The proposal, submitted by planning consultant DePol Associates, seeks approval for 54 "affordable" homes.

The damage was inflicted on benches at Rainford Cricket Club, on Church Road, last Friday, April 11. Among the benches to have been targeted by the vandals was one in memory to Alex Whitehead. Alex, from Rainford, passed away aged four from cancer in 1997.

    He had pleaded guilty to criminal damage (Image: Stock) A MAN who inflicted criminal damage to a window has been sentenced by a court. Michael Roche, of Weedon Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, went before Liverpool, Knowsley and St Helens Magistrates' Court on Friday, April 11. Roche, 44, had in a previous hearing pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage. On November 18, last year he damaged a window belonging to a woman in Newton-le-Willows.

    Betty and Billy have celebrated their 95th birthdays (Image: Submitted) ARE these the oldest surviving twins from St Helens? Betty Glover and twin brother William 'Billy' Delaney were born on April 3, 1930, and have recently celebrated their 95th birthday. They grew up in Upland Road, Thatto Heath, until they got married and moved into their own homes. Betty, who worked at Wood Westworth Printers on Park Road, in Blackbrook, had nine children.

    A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after police were called to a domestic incident. At around 10.30pm on Tuesday , officers received a report that a woman aged in her 30s had been stabbed inside a flat on Knowsley Heights, Huyton. Officers attended and gave the woman first aid until paramedics arrived. She was taken to hospital but died from her injuries. Her next of kin have been made aware and will be supported by specially trained officers.
