1 IntroductionMicrocephaly in human is a developmental disorder that results in a reduction of head size such that head circumference is three standard deviations lower than the mean for a human of the same age and sex. A major cause of microcephaly is an impaired development of the brain (microencephaly) (Kaindl et al., 2010; Gilmore and Walsh, 2013; Alcantara and O'Driscoll, 2014; Jayaraman et al., 2018; Phan and Holland, 2021; Zaqout and Kaindl, 2022), which is the focus of this treatise.
