Australian riders have certainly had their eras of success at Paris-Roubaix, this however isn’t one of them. Just three riders from the nation were on the start line in 2025 and the best placed finisher from among those came over the line in 82nd but given that rider was a debuting 20-year-old Oscar Chamberlain (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) the embers of hope for a resurgence in the years ahead are still burning.

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot had already put the Gravaa adjustable tyre pressure system to the test at the Tour of Flanders but the real benefits were felt on Saturday's Paris-Roubaix Femmes where the Visma-Lease a Bike rider made her winning debut. "We tried it at the Tour of Flanders but the system was 400 grams heavier so I said, 'maybe but maybe not'," Ferrand-Prévot, who came second at last weekend's cobbled Classic, said of the race which included 12 climbs.

Australian Jayco-AlUla rider Kell O'Brien had been expecting to line up at Paris-Roubaix on Sunday, to continue on with his spring Classics campaign, but his plans and the team’s had to change. “Unfortunately, Kell O’Brien will not be riding Paris-Roubaix this weekend after suffering a broken collarbone in a crash during training this week,” said Jayco-AlUla in a medical update.
