Describing herself as a “professional noticer,” Sirui Ma is a London-based photographer whose practice explores the beauty of the mundane. Born in Beijing and subsequently raised in London and New York, Ma’s images gently probe her experiences of living in the West through a multicultural lens, broaching topics of presence and community. Captured over the course of a year, Ma’s series Little Things Mean a Lot is a self-portrait through the women around her.

1. IntroductionThe Membrane Attack Complex and Perforin (MACPF) protein encompasses the membrane attack complex (MAC) and perforin proteins, which are present in various organisms such as fungi, plants, and animals [1,2,3]. These proteins play a crucial role in the organisms defense against bacterial and viral infections, contributing to immune response and cell lysis [4]. The MACPF protein has the ability to create pores in cellular membranes [5].
