A little over a year ago I shared some insight as a first time electric vehicle owner and with a year and 4 months in, I have a few thoughts to share. Plus I was motivated to write after a Presidential election cycle with an outcome that may put electric vehicle acceleration at a crossroads. Memorial Weekend of this year, I took my first long distance trip from New Jersey into the North Carolina Piedmont Triad, a distance of around 520 miles.

*At the beginning of 2024, I saw Donnie Simpson wrap up a multi-year deal hosting his afternoon drive show on WMMJ-FM, also known as Majic 102.3 in Washington, DC. It’s amazing that outside of a short break away from the radio microphone, Donnie has been at it in the Nation’s Capital since 1978. The first time I heard Donnie on the radio in 1980, I was riding in the car with my late uncle.

I wanted to wait several months before writing this. I seldom discuss personal material moves but in July I took the jump and opted for an EV (Electric Vehicle). As a long confessed lover of 6 (and 8) cylinder SUV’s, I wasn’t sure about making the move. However, after seeing the Volkswagen ID4 last year and finally test driving one in June I was sold. There are a lot of stereotypes and misconceptions about going electric and many reasons people do so.
