    Marius “Doc” Dockery took batting practice Thursday for the first time with this year’s Redstone softball team. “That’s called rusty,” he said afterward. Dockery, pitcher and co-coach with Ty Butler, is in his fifth year as Redstone preparesto play in the Community Softball Game on Thursday at Toyota Field in Madison. They will try to avenge last year’s 21-13 loss to the North Alabama Rockets, the community leaders’ team, which snapped Redstone’s three-year winning streak.

    Donna Johnson’s Army civilian career has been like one of her long-distance races. She hasn’t stopped running but she can see the finish line of retirement after nearly 40 years. “It’s time – 40 years. It’s time,” she said.     Last week was big for Huntsville resident Michelle McBride. She started May 19 as the new manager of the Redstone Thrift Shop. Her youngest daughter, Madeline, graduated Thursday from Huntsville High. “Lots of changes going on in my life,” McBride said. McBride succeeded Sophie Gentry, who managed the Thrift Shop for four years but left because she is becoming a grandmother. “I am enthusiastic to come in here to start this role,” McBride said.
