The Dancing Rabbit Music Festival will celebrate its fifth year of providing live music to McAlester residents and out-of-towners with its first cover-themed show in May. Blake Lynch, Dancing Rabbit Music Festival president, said the event takes place four times a year between Third Street and Choctaw Avenue. Lynch also said the festival will complete its 20th major street festival show this year with shows scheduled for May 10, June 14, July 19 and Nov. 8.

The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma will be recognized by Leadership Oklahoma for the tribe's contributions toward the betterment of communities throughout the state. According to a LOK media release, the Choctaw Nation will be honored with the Statewide Community Award on April 26 at the 2025 Excellence in Leadership Gala.
