Several former boxers and people interested in boxing have teamed up together to revive boxing in eMalahleni. Judas Ngobeni brother to Lawrence Ngobeni and a former boxer himself who used to fight as a lightweight will be teaming with other former boxers. Sipho Mashego who is the ring announcer of the year for 2023 is one of the people and Peter Thabethe intends to apply for a promoter’s licence next year (2024). Judas will also apply for a matchmaker licence next year as well.

Inkosi Nsizwa Mahlangu of Mrhetjha Royal House hosted a Christmas party for the elderly at his royal home. In partnership with other stakeholders Inkosi Mahlangu thought that this was a good time to bring the elderly together to show them love and showered them with gifts. The event was held at the royal house in Hlalanikahle on Saturday, December 16.Inkosi had partnered with Kakaramba Foundation, Sisonke Foundation and One Goal Football Foundation.

As promised Mpumalanga junior welterweight champion Xolani Mgidi fought and defended his provincial title well. Mgidi won the fight against Humbulani Netshamtshedzi in a technical knockout (TKO) in round two after only 40 seconds into the round.The Ilanga Boxing Promotions tournament took place at Middelburg Banquet Hall on Friday, December 15, in support of 16 Days of Activism Against GBV through boxing.

Both United Masters and 3D Masters played a very entertaining soccer game when they faced each other on the last day of the Witbank KwaGuqa Masters League. There are six teams affiliated in the Masters League and it was formed this year. Several clubs have come together to form a league. From the start, 3D was on the attack, and they scored their first goal which was ruled not to be a goal.

The ABC Motsepe League doubleheader match between Mpumalanga Football Academy the host and Ehlazeni United took place at the Puma Stadium. The first match on Saturday, December 9 was between Destiny College and Mpumalanga Future United. In the Academy/United match the log leaders attacked Academy winger Thapelo Dhludhlu and nearly scored but his shot was blocked. Not to be outdone United Shongwe Victor Shongwe also had a shot at goal but it went wide.

“Members of the Vosman Community Policing Forum (CPF) urged community members to stand up and volunteer themselves to serve in their area,” said Ms Anna Manana. She was addressing community members during a GBV awareness campaign held at Empumelelweni on Wednesday, December 6. Manana added that children and women are at risk of being abused as cases are reported at the station. She pointed out that volunteers are needed, especially young people, to serve in their community.

Witbank Police have opened an inquest after the body of a man was found lying near the road in Old Coronation on Tuesday morning, November 28. Witbank Police spokesperson, Sergeant David Ratau, said after the police received the call, they went to the scene, and the unknown person was declared dead. They opened the inquest as there were no visible wounds on his body. The cause of death is not known at this stage. Do you have a story to share?

They looked so beautiful during their graduation ceremony, showing that they were ready for the next step in their young lives. The children of Khayalethu Combined School held their graduation ceremony at the Assembly of God Church in Lynnville on Friday, November 24. They were graduating from Grade R to Grade 1 next year. The boys looked very neat in their white shirts and black trousers and the girls in their white dresses, the event was fit for kings and queens.

Different stakeholders held a disabled awareness campaign to bring awareness and information to the public. The aim of the campaign held Wednesday, November 15 at Vosman is to empower parents with disabled children and to help them to face their challenges. One of the disability facilitators said they were able to help parents by giving them information on how to access psychologists and physiotherapists, how to apply for Sassa grants and any problems with Sassa grants application.

Learners of two schools, Maloma Primary School and Khayalethu Primary School were fortunate to get a first account of motivation from well-known actors. The actors which include Sphiwe Nkosi (Emzini Wezinsizwa, Generations), Khomotso Mathebula Uncle Umalaume, Thankeka, KoMkhulu as an extra), Bongi Mbonani (KomMkhulu). The programme is run by SM Pro Studious and Run of the Arts as an audience and school programme and is funded by SEF (Assitej SA).
