AbstractThe use of monoclonal antibodies for the control of drug resistant nosocomial bacteria may alleviate a reliance on broad spectrum antimicrobials for treatment of infection. We identify monoclonal antibodies that may prevent infection caused by carbapenem resistant Acinetobacter baumannii.

In an unfortunate turn of events, Malawi’s vice president Saulos Chilima has been found dead whilst onboard the Malawi Defence Force aircraft. The aircraft carrying Chilima, former first lady Shanil Dzimbri, and eight other passengers took off at 9.17 am on Monday 10 June from Lilongwe, the capital. The short flight was expected to land 45 minutes later at Mzuzu International Airport but “went off the radar” not long after it departed.
