COLUMBIA — An associate pastor at Broadway Christian Church was arrested Friday evening for stealing mayoral campaign signs supporting Blair Murphy. Broadway Christian Church released a statement after Peck's arrest, stating that he has been placed on administrative leave. According to a probable cause statement, the Boone County Sheriff's Office arrested Taylor-Peck around 5:30 p.m. Friday near Coastal Electric on Scott Boulevard.

Jefferson City Police Department officers gifted a local elderly couple with a washing machine after a man scammed them over the weekend. "Jefferson City Police Department officers stepped up for a Christmas miracle and helped make sure they had a washing machine just in time for Christmas!" the Capital Are Crisis Intervention Team wrote in a Facebook post. The man who scammed the couple was arrested for allegedly stealing $310 from the couple.

A Mexico man was arrested on Monday morning for an alleged domestic assault involving a knife after an argument. Brett M. Bybee, 24, faces charges of first-degree domestic assault, armed criminal action, second-degree domestic assault, and resisting or interfering with arrest for a felony. According to a probable cause statement, Mexico Public Safety Department officers arrived at a Mexico residence around 9:39 a.m., where they found the victim and her children, and Bybee hiding in a car.

School of the Osage District will resume school functions Friday, after activities were canceled all Thursday when a phoned-in threat was made to the middle school. According to a Facebook post from the Miller County district, the middle school received the phone threat Thursday at 2:58 p.m., which prompted school administration to call local law enforcement. "In conjunction with law enforcement, a safe dismissal took place," the district wrote.
